CMS Announces Mid-Cycle Selection Period for Florida and North Carolina Home Health Providers
CMS has announced that full implementation of the home health (HH) Review Choice Demonstration (RCD) will begin September 1, 2021, for HH providers in North Carolina and Florida. In preparation for full implementation, there will be a mid-Cycle 2 selection period. The details are below:
- Selection period start date: August 1, 2021
- Selection period end date: August 15, 2021
- Effective September 1, 2021, all billing periods will be subject to the requirements of the review choice you selected. This will include any billing periods that have not yet been submitted as of September 1, 2021, with a date of service on or after the start of the demonstration in North Carolina and Florida (August 31, 2020).
If you would like to change your choice selection for the remainder of Cycle 2, you may do so during the selection window (August 1–15, 2021). Cycle 2 selection options are based upon your Cycle 1 results.
If you initially made a choice selection for Cycle 2 and do not want to make a change to that choice selection, you do not need to take any action.
If you did not make a choice selection for Cycle 2 and you want to stay with Choice 1 (Pre-Claim Review), you must make a selection during the mid-cycle selection period between August 1–15, 2021.
If you did not make a selection for Cycle 2 and you do not make a selection during the mid-cycle selection period, you will default to either Choice 2 (Postpayment Review) or Choice 4 (Selective Postpayment Review) based upon your Cycle 1 results.
If you select Choice 5 (Spot Check) for this N.C./Fla. mid-cycle selection period, your claims will ADR at the normal rate. You will not be penalized at the end of the cycle if you have not completed your full sample.
Cycle 2 for North Carolina and Florida will end on October 31, 2021.
