Lymphedema Compression Treatment Items Now Covered for Medicare Part B Patients

Effective January 1, 2024, Medicare began paying for lymphedema compression treatment items for Medicare Part B beneficiaries.

Existing suppliers wanting to add this product to the DMEPOS enrollment must submit a change of information application either via PECOS or on the paper CMS 855S. Please complete sections 1, 2B, 2E4, 3, 12, 13 and 15. Ensure to submit any state required licensure. Suppliers are responsible for checking with the licensing agency for each state where items are provided. In addition, if accreditation is required, ensure the new product code for lymphedema compression treatment items has been added by your accrediting organization.

If initially enrolling as a DMEPOS supplier to provide these items, the CMS 855S must be completed in its entirety via PECOS or on the paper application form and submitted along with all required attachments to include required state licensure for each state where items are being provided to beneficiaries. Again, suppliers are responsible for checking with the licensing agency for each state where items are provided. The supplier must also ensure they are accredited, if applicable.
