MMA - New 2005 Part B Annual Deductible
For calendar years 1991 through 2004, the Medicare Part B annual deductible has been $100. Beginning in 2005, the Medicare Part B deductible will be $110 (based on Section 629 of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act (MMA)). (OH/WV)
MMA Drug Pricing Update—Drug Exceptions
Attention providers: The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA), (Section 303(b)(2)), created a process for increasing the 2004 payment limits for some Medicare Part B drugs and biologicals provided from April 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004. A complete article identifying those drugs and biologicals granted increases under this process and their new payment amounts is now available online.

This South Carolina Medicare Part A LCD, 96A-0014-L, Syphilis Test, has been revised. Under AMA/CPT and ADA/CDT Copyright Statement section of the policy added the American Dental Association copyright statement. Under CMS National Coverage Policy section of the policy deleted previously cited sections 10.2, 30.1, 30.2, 30.4, 40.1, 40.7, 50.1, 60, 80.4, and 110 located in CMS Manual System, Pub 100-4, Medicare Claims Processing, Chapter 16. Under Coverage Topic section of the policy deleted diagnostic tests and X-rays. Under ICD-9 Codes That Support Medical Necessity section of the policy, deleted V22.1 and added V23.2, V23.41, V23.49, V23.5, V23.7. These changes become effective 03/26/2004.
